The main aim for us is to develop the skills of YCC consultants through holding events with external firms who can provide real industry insight to YCC. Below are some initial thoughts on possible events:

Case Study Workshops

A skills session might include grouping attendees to complete case study work, whilst integrating feedback and advice on how your consultants themselves would approach a task and the frameworks that they have in place to solve them. Such sessions could be tailored to developing specific skills. For example, breaking down a project into tasks; how to produce a report that reflects the team, how to time manage a project etc.

Personal Skills Sessions

A skills session that instead focuses on developing personal attributes within the professional world. Examples on specific areas that could be discussed are:

  • Communicating with confidence
  • Realising your strengths
  • How to be a leader
  • Communicating with confidence
  • How to create a personal impact
  • Improving your professional skills

None of the above ideas are definite in nature and YCC positively encourages any ideas regarding skills sessions that you may have.

Benefits to You

Recruitment - An opportunity for you to work with intelligent, adaptive minds who are serious about a career in consultancy. Students can be observed learning and applying their own skills.

Public Relations - creates a more tangible connection between you and YCC, showcasing your focus on individual development and expertise. For all types of skills sessions a networking session and an introduction to your firm would also be an option to hold before or after a skills session.

We hope that YCC excites corporate interest. We look forward to running skill sessions to build our consultant's basic toolkit whilst providing recruiters the opportunity to work with some of the most intelligent adaptive minds at York.
